Recent Stimulus opens assistance to service members selling homes
- Are you active duty and just received orders?
- Do you need to sell your home?
- Sacrificing your sales price because of the market?
Military families facing challenges or hardships in selling their home now have help. A stimulus package is available that carries a provision for military families selling their homes for less than market value. The Department of Defense should reimburse you up to ninety-five percent of the loss, but only if your home was purchased before July 1, 2006.
There's only one problem, the jury is still out on whether the assistance will be on the current market value or the home value at the time of purchase. So if you paid $200,000 for your new home in 2006 and with today's market conditions your home is currently appraised at $189,000 - then it won't be much of a help. According to officials, the decision on which to support is currently still being reviewed, this assistance program is part of a wide homeowner relief program for military personnel and is scheduled to end in 2012.
The team at CasaNuevaGuide.com suggests contacting the Homeowners Assistance Program through the Army Corp. of Engineers.
